Food is really good. I am not even a huge grilled cheese fan but it was great. Waitress is a sweetheart and very helpful. The only thing that holds it back from 5 stars is the wait. One girl running a small packed place means a long wait before you order, long wait for your meal, and a long wait for your bill. Not great for groups as the place I really small.

Yum... Lobster melt and crab melt were wonderful. The waitress was totally awesome and the Southern belle. Small and quaint like I like 'em.

Dropped in for some lunch on the way home to Charleston from Myrtle Beach with my girlfriend. We were pleasantly surprised with their Maryland style crab cakes. Thick moist, grilled to perfection and full of Lump, sweet, delicious, crab meat. The CrabMelt is one of a kind. Best tasting sandwich I've had all year. Oozing with monterey jack cheese, but not overpowering the crabby goodness. Perfectly grilled Texas toast. Doesn't get any better!

A little place, only a few tables. I went for take out and wow, the tomato soup was great, the grilled cheese was, like having four regular grilled cheese. I had the lobster grilled cheese and it was very good. I wouldn't get the fries again, but that is because I did get takeout and they didn't travel well. I will be going back

Pretty good. She crab soup tasty. Crab melt was good too, although there was not much of a crab taste in the sandwich.

Delicious! Went for a late lunch/early dinner. Had the onion rings and the Crabmelt. Onion rings were great, but nothing extraordinary. The Crabmelt, however, was tremendous! A great crab cake in a grilled cheese for $10?! Highly recommend and we will probably be stopping by to try the French Fried Lobster Grilled Cheese before heading back to PA. Great food + great service + great prices = 5 stars!

Best Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup we've ever had. We always eat here at least once every time we're down in Surfside Beach. The food, the service and the price are fantastic. A terrific meal and experience. Easy and fast!

There on Friday for early dinner - Oct 3rd. One family already there, stated they really enjoyed the food - was recommended to them by their daughter. Another couple stepped in to let the server know that they were going to seat outside. About 6 tables outside for seating which are undercover. I will start out I am from Maryland and VERY picky about the crab cakes. With one of the reviews out there stating someone from Maryland thought the crab cake measured up, I thought it would be great. WELL, the crab cake had too much filling! Was told that the owner was gone and that his crab cakes would have been better. One would think that you would have employees measuring ingredients if this is a signature thing on the menu. I was disappointed with the crab cake - another note, they are not broiled but I knew that going into it. We had a cup of crab soup, a grilled crab cake and a grilled lobster sandwich along with fries that had old bay seasoning. The crab soup OK - not bad, but would be better with some old bay seasoning in it (note, this is NOT Maryland style cream of crab). We both like the grilled lobster sandwich the best and the fries were nice and brown - just as we like them, hate undercooked fries. The old bay on the fries was a nice change. The bill for what we had came around $45 plus tip - we both had water. But remember if you are eating high cost seafood, it will not be cheap. So a fair price for what we had. We drove from Myrtle Beach - just by 22 & 17, which took sometime. No, I would not drive down again to just eat here but I would eat here again if in the area. The girls working there were very friendly.

Great food, friendly staff. I had the crab melt and the fried lobster, both very good. I will definitely return and try some of the other items on the menu.

Looks like a hole in the wall type of place and that's what it is. They have about 6 tables inside and a few outside. Our server wasn't attentive. Forgot our drinks until we asked about them after our crab ball appetizer (which seemed burnt and not at all flavorful.) It's okay, people forget, but when you follow it up with no refills unless asked (when your cup is just ice) it's a bit ridiculous. The food was alright, the best meal someone had was the crabby melt. Our bill for 3 (including child) came up to be around $50. Overall food was alright, service was bad, and in my opinion food not worth the price. Don't see what the rave is about.

Got the Fried oyster grilled cheese and the "CrabMelt" both were really good. The waitress, I can't remember her name, I think it started with a "D", was really awesome. Great food and great service!

I love unassuming little places in strip malls...so this was right up my alley...and the great reviews confirmed my decision. Unfortunately, I didn't get to visit the actual restaurant as my kids' naps screwed with my ability to get there to meet my parents for lunch, but they brought me home the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. And boy was it delicious! (I liked that they threw in the actual lobster tail as a decoration, too!) The lobster was cooked just right (actually breaded and deep fried) and the chunks were big enough that you could definitely tell it was lobster! My mom had the lobster sandwich and said it was good, but to her it lost most of the actual lobster flavor once you put the condiments on (she's a purist and loves her lobster just dipped in butter). I don't love lobster like she does (I'm definitely not a purist) so to me it was perfect. And to those who say "seafood with cheese"??? It was divine. If you like grilled cheese and seafood, you will love the lobster grilled cheese. I only wish we'd thought about going earlier in our two-week stay so I could have gone again--it was that good!

A nondescript storefront buried within a nondescript strip mall, you have probably driven by this place a dozen or more times without even realizing it. The Grilled Cheese and Crab Co. has none of the ridiculous flair and pizzazz that most seaside tourist traps are known for, and makes no effort to lure in customers with obnoxious signs, faux-nautical garbage strewn about the parking lot, or promises of shady authenticity in a town where the word has lost all meaning. From the outside it looks like your typical suburban joint. Tall glass windows with counter seating overlook a smattering of outside tables and chairs, who, in turn, overlook a parking lot. When we arrived right about lunch time, the restaurant was mostly empty. There are only about 6 tables inside, generally set for groups of four, and a counter window case displays beers and other assorted items for purchase. We were immediately greeted by the restaurants sole server and front of house staff member, whose excitement was only overshadowed by her exhaustion. She was incredibly polite and friendly, and my hardened demeanor born from years of urban living were immediately disarmed by her quintessential southern hospitality. She explained the menu, and highlighted some of the most popular items worth considering, particularly the highly advertised crab cake grilled cheese. While there are a smattering of non-seafood and non-grilled cheese items, these represent a slim minority of the offerings, and are probably best reserved for those forced to accompany their friends and loved ones who realize the culinary gifts this place offers. The sandwiches are truly good, in the simplest, most wholesome, and southern sense of the word. Jamming various shellfish and other edibles into a grilled cheese sandwich is neither novelty nor ingenious, it's just logic. A culinary evolution akin to mans first attempt at cooking raw meat over an open flame, concocted by our ape-ish ancestors, hundreds of thousands of years ago. This place is an oasis for anyone looking for plain old good food, something many of the chains and local sand pits of Myrtle Beach have slowly lost in favor of neon signs and kitschy wall decor. It is a wholesome slice of southern charm, covered in melted cheese, and served lovingly warm and crisp. The sides are extra.

I went here after seeing all the positive reviews and i must say I am glad we came. The food was delicious and the server was the sweetest person. I felt bad that she was the only server, but she did her best. I can't wait to go back I recommend the buffalo chicken grilled cheese!

Very delicious crab melt sandwich and Cajun fries. Everything tasted great and was cooked right. Friends loved their meals too. $9-15 The crab meat wasn't as flavorful as I thought it could be, definitely still yummy. Waitress was super kind. We will be back!

Ooey gooey deliciousness! Went there during vacation and plan to go back the next time I am in town. Very kid and family friendly. A smaller seating area, but went there for an early dinner and had plenty of room.

We got the grilled cheese and crab cake sandwich and the grilled cheese and buffalo chicken sandwich....yummy!!! Both were grilled on Texas toast and were the perfect crispness. The blue cheese sauce for the buffalo chicken sandwich was the best I have had. We split the old bay seasoned fries which were very good. The place is small and there was only one waitress but she was great....she even brought our dog a dish of water (don't worry we sat on the outside patio). We would definitely go back.

Um...yes, please. Everything about this place is on point. The food is great and very reasonably priced. The girls who work there are sweet, and willing to do whatever they can to make sure you enjoy yourself. And honestly...HOW ARE THEY THE FIRST PEOPLE TO COME UP WITH THIS IDEA?! BRILLIANT!

Excellent food with wonderfully friendly service. Everything is made in house including sauces and cheese and it pays off. We ordered the crab melt, which was outstanding, and the fried green tomato pimento grilled cheese, which was a perfect blend of favors and delicious. We will definitely be coming back, certainly worth the drive from Myrtle Beach area.

Stopped in here after seeing some of the reviews on yelp. Hubs and I were in town visiting family and were looking for something different for lunch. Didn't want the normal chain restaurant. Glad we stopped here. I had the crabby melt and hubby had grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. We shared an order of the crab fries. Everything was great. The crab cake on my sandwich was wonderful. And add gooey cheese to it and t was amazing. My husbands sandwich seemed like it came with a pound of bacon, which he loved. The Texas toast that the sandwiches are served on is great. Loved the fries, fresh cut I think. Small little place with great service. There wAs only one girl working but she was super attentive. Always right in top of everything even with a packed house. Seemed like a places where the locals frequented. This place is worth a ride down to garden city area. Next time we are in myrtle beach we will stop by again. I'm dying to try the lobster grilled cheese.

Me and my friends just went here for lunch today. We were happily greeted by our server named Debbie. She was very courteous and helpful throughout the whole visit. I had the crab melt sandwich which was awesome. Everybody else loved their food as well. Even the picky kids loved the food. We'll definitely be coming back soon.

The food is excellent. The service was good but the food was slow coming out. That could be because they only had 1 server. She was great as well.

This place was AWESOME! Great food and excellent service! Went with a large group and we had the crab balls and the buffalo fish bites to start (highly recommend both). I had the buffalo chicken grilled cheese and my husband got the crab melt and they both were delicious and more than enough food. Our server was Debbie and she was super sweet, very helpful, and did a great job keeping up with our large group. Will definitely be going back :)

We found this restaurant randomly while driving. We are the type of family that sticks to the same places every year for eating, but who can go wrong with crab cakes and a good, tasty, delicious grilled cheese on Texas toast? We looked on Yelp and saw the good ratings and immediately turned around to try it out. My family ordered two crab-melts, two fried shrimp grilled cheeses, and a BLT. This was hands-down some of the greatest food we've had this beach trip. We will definitely be back!!! They put a huge crab cake with tons of Monterrey jack cheese and tomato in between two fantastically grilled pieces of Texas toast then grills it again to get the whole sandwich nice and warm. YOU MUST GO HERE!!! if you don't want a grilled cheese, they also have seafood platters & wraps. They also have grilled and fried chicken platters & wraps, too. Definitely will be back!!!!!! It's rare to find a place that the whole family enjoys too, but Grilled Cheese & Crab Cake Co. did it :)

This place is awesome! My husband and I took our 3 boys here for dinner recently and it was great! Our server was a little strange, she was trying to go very over the top with her descriptions of the foods which was kind of funny. The food is great though. I was a little skeptical about coming here because we had heard some pretty awful things about the place when it was under previous ownership, but the new owners are doing a fantastic job. My husband got the crabcake grilled cheese, I got the lobster grilled cheese, my oldest son ordered shrimp grilled cheese and the two younger boys got chicken strips. Everything was delivered promptly, was piping hot and soooo yummy. I also ordered a side of onion rings, which are huge and delicious (I love battered onion rings over breaded). Very satisfied with our experience and will certainly be returning.

The service was great and so was the food! If your idea of culinary heaven involves gooey cheese, Texas toast, and anything deep fried, then you have found it! We sampled the famous O-rings, Old Bay fries, crab poppers, fried lobster grilled cheese, and buffalo chicken grilled cheese. Left with bellies full and doggies bags. Prices were a bit high for grilled cheese, but this is not your usual sandwich.

  • Donna K.

Great service and awesome THICK grilled cheese! My kids loved them. Coming from Maryland, the old bay fries were terrific and the crab cake was not greasy or dry. Pretty darn good-I would have liked a bit more old bay on mine but that's ok. Will come back!

    (5)
  • Meisha R.

Omg! The crab melt was fab-U-lous. I am from Maryland so I was a bit skeptical, but it did not disappoint. The cream of crab soup was also delish. My family wants to come back one more time before we leave.

    (5)
  • Blake E.

My fiancé and I stopped here for lunch after reading the reviews and loved every bit of it! The crabmelt will not disappoint! And the homemade cocktail sauce is on point! The owner's from MD so he knows what he's doing. "Crab cakes and football! That's what Maryland does!"

  • Jeff H.

There is a reason why there are so many five star reviews of this place. The food is amazing! We went with two young children who were not too certain that they would like food that came from a place with "crab" in the name. They both left full and happy, as did mom and dad. The crab melt is really delicious with big lumps of crab sandwiched in gooey grilled cheese. Either of the elements on their own would have been very good, but together they are a real treat. The kids both had the grilled cheese with bacon and loved it. The bacon in their sandwiches was crispy, tasty, and perfectly cooked. The French fries we all ordered were perfection. They were crispy on the outside and not the slightest bit greasy. As another commenter mentioned, the Old Bay fries come with a generous amount of seasoning, maybe a little too much. I just shook some of it off and will remember to order it a little bit lighter next time. The restaurant closes early, but it's worth making a trip to the somewhat non-descript strip mall for an early dinner. Prices are fair (we had dinner for four for $40.) Service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is...well, a little lacking, but who cares when the food is this good!

While staying at the house in Myrtle Beach I did a quick Yelp search for a place to eat neat by. The reviews matched the food perfectly. Debbie did a great job taking care of us. I loved my fried oysters. My girlfriend who even doesn't like seafood liked them. Nice job guys! Glad I found this place.

Very small storefront location. Service and quality of food was excellent. The perfect restaurant for me and my wife. I love seafood she doesn't. I had crab cakes she had grilled cheese with bacon. Both of us were happy!

The crab melt is the best sandwich ever!! I also enjoy the wrapped shrimp and the fries are good too. Friendly staff.

Amazing! I wish this place was in Chicago! The sever was so nice and the place is very clean! I got a peek into the kitchen as I was leaving and was impressed. Be sure to check out the specials (& new items) on the chalkboard! The Old bay fries were good, just a tad over powering so maybe ask for "light" on the seasoning, which the server suggested but we didn't listen. Next time we will.

Visiting the area from southern MD and saw all the Great reviews on Yelp. They were right ! Great Crab Melts, Fried Chicken melts and delicious onion rings. And from the sampling I'm sure the rest of the menu is awesome too. Highly recommended !!!Enjoy!!!!

Had the misfortune of coming in behind a large group of customers. There was only one cashier/server to take care of probably 25 people. Not sure how many cooks. Took a good hour to get our food. Another group left and went down the strip to a pizza place, ate, and left before we even got our food. By the time we got our food I could have gone crabbing, cooked the crab and put it on a grilled cheese myself. The cashier/waitress was nice. They need to hire some people.

  • Randy P.

All I can say is wow. The food was thought to be outstanding by the eight of us. Crabmelt, Buffalo chicken, fried lobster, eggplant all the grilled cheese were mindblowing. Despite the place being busy, Robin was the only waitress. Service was good. Do not miss this place if in the myrtle beach area

  • Chris K.

Tried this place out based on fellow Yelpers, and they were spot on! I had the buffalo chicken grilled cheese with Bleu cheese dipping sauce. Unbelievably tasty! My wife had the lobster grilled cheese that was equally delicious. My two kids devoured their grilled cheese and fries also. I look forward to returning and trying the crab melt grilled cheese as well. Friendly staff and attentive too! Overall, two thumbs up!

  • Randy S.

The good reviews were right. Each of the four of us enjoyed our meals. Crab sandwiches with and without cheese, lobster sandwich, fish & chips, all very good. We're Marylanders so the Old Bay seasoning in the mayo was really appreciated. I'll be making some of that at home. Final word: the service was great.

What a cute little place hidden in a strip mall. It was fabulous!! The service was great and so friendly! Hubby had the crab melt which was massive and so delicious. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasty. The cream of crab soup was outstanding as well!! All in all a great place and the prices are inexpensive! A true gem!

We didn't know they closed at 7, so I was kind of expecting service and the food to be not so good. But I was WRONG! The food was incredible and the waitress was the nicest woman ever. The fried lobster grilled cheese was AMAZING!!! So good and fresh. There was 6 of us in the group and everyone was very impressed! For sure going back again!!

Awesome little restaurant with outdoor patio seating as well as indoor tables. Very innovative and truly delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, all served on texas toast. Also had seafood basket options, wings, and sandwiches/salad/soups. Love the checkered basket liners and split sandwich presentation!

We are locals. Found this place on FB. Very friendly waitress! Had wonderful large, onion rings (fresh fried). Also had their special Marilyn crab cheese sandwich. It was delicious! It was hugh, took half home for later. Hubby had "best BLT" he's had in a long time. Prices are compatible to the large servings. We will be back! Highly recommend !

Not your average crappy tourist trap. First of all, a great concept, with grilled cheese at its center. Second of all, fantastic, cheerful service. Prices aren't so hot, but it is Myrtle Beach and they're not surprising. Absolutely worth a stop if you're in town.

The lobster grilled cheese sandwich was delicious. As was the crab melt and Cajun fries. Large potions and reasonable prices. Quaint setting and good, friendly service. This place will become one of our regular spots.

I really like to have lunch at this place when I'm at Surfside Beach. I usually get the chicken finger grilled cheese and I LOVE IT! Others have had the crabcake grilled cheese and they say it is great too. Highly suggest it if you're looking for a good/inexpensive lunch.

  • Angela M.

I just cannot understand all the high reviews on this place. We went there for lunch and most of the food was inedible. There were six of us and all lunch choices were different except for two - chicken fingers - which turned out to be the best tasting. Ordered onion rings, crab salad, fried shrimp, grilled cheese, two chicken fingers, two fries, some sandwich with clams?, one beer, four soft drinks, and one kid size cup of water. $99 later, not counting the tip, we left. 75% of the food was uneaten. I asked about the shrimp - if they were frozen, and I was told NO, they come fresh from Maryland on dry ice. Go figure. I grew up eating fresh seafood from Murrells Inlet. Strange how those shrimp are all different shapes and sizes, but the "fresh dry ice" ones are all exactly the same size and shape - flat. Needless to say we won't be back.

In town for thanksgiving holiday and stopped here for lunch. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and friendly atmosphere. True southern hospitality from our waitress. The lobster grilled cheese was great and the crab soup even better. Highly suggest you stop by and give it a try you won't be disappointed

Just got back from another vacation in SC. Weather was beautiful, but the food was better! My girlfriend convinced me to try some new places and fell in love with The Grilled Cheese & Crab Cake Co in Garden City, SC. Had the Crab Melt and my girlfriend had the Seaside Salad. Portions were HUGE and the prices were very reasonable. They offer both beer and wine so I had a couple of Longboard Ales from Hawaii. Over the course of the vacation we ended up going back 2 more times!! We also decided to try the fresh Oyster roll and the Lobster Grilled Cheese both delicious. Can't wait for our next vacation to SC. because we are definitely going back to The Grilled Cheese & Crab Cake Co to try some more of this great food.

While on vacation we came in to this place that my sister's boyfriend wanted to go and I'm glad we did! The lady on duty greeted us and explained everything, detailed and kind! Loved her service, even as others came in for things to go, she still assisted us! Small location which is nice and a small town kind of feel!

I would definitely come back to this restaurant!! Me, my lil sister, and my husband went here an hr and half before they closed. I was afraid since we were close to closing time the food wasn't going to be good. But I was wrong!! Let me tell you....the food was phenomenal!! These sandwiches are not your ordinary sandwiches!! They are cooked to perfection! My husband and I got the lobster grilled cheese and my lil sister got the crabmeat grilled cheese. The lobster was cooked just right. I loved how the lobster meat was so soft & chewy on the inside and the outside was so crunchy from the batter. On all of the sandwiches, the cheese was soooo gooey and overflowing from all sides of the sandwich. My lil sis loved her Maryland crabcake sandwich! We also got 1 basket of the Old bay fries and they were almost gone at the end of the meal. I am definitely bringing my friends here when they are in town!! :)

This afternoon, it was lunch for Mike and I at The Grilled Cheese and Crab Cake Co. They offer a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches and fish baskets. It is a small place and also has seating outside. We started with a small basket of Old Bay French fries. Can you guess what they were seasoned with? They were crispy and flavorful. They told us they were famous for the Crabmelt. For 9.95 you get a Maryland style crab cake on grilled Texas toast with Montery Jack cheese and tomato. Mike asked for his without tomato. The sandwiches were ooey and gooey with cheese. The Texas toast had a tasty flavor to it and the sandwich itself was good. Mike said he thought the tomato would make it better because it would complement the richness of the sandwich. I liked that you were given a plastic fork just in case it got a little messy. The sandwiches are large enough to share, especially if you order French fries with it. Our waitress was personable and handled all the customers by herself. I would definitely go back there to try another type of sandwich.

The soup was amazing the crab soup, I also had the most popular sandwich the crab melt, it was ok not my favorite. I would try something else next time, but would definitely get the soup again! On the sandwich maybe just not my thing, you may love it.

  • Jen D.

Wow. I'm pretty picky about my grilled cheese. It was perfectly crisp, with just the right amount of cheese. I added bacon which was well cooked and plentiful. And the Old Bay fries were well cooked. I'd love to tell you how great the crab portion of this place is, but I did not partake. Attentive and friendly service, I would/ will return anytime I'm in the area!

  • Barrie P.

This tiny place has such a great concept. Their grilled cheese is already excellent and then they add perfectly cooked seafood to them. I tried the lobster grilled cheese. The lobster was perfectly fried and stayed crisp on my sandwich. The grilled cheese is Texas toast and Monterrey jack which is great all on its own. I tried my husband's crab cake and it was delicious. We also enjoyed the the basket of old bay fries. The waiteress was friendly and gave us great service.

These were the best grilled cheese sandwiches we've ever had! There were 4 of us - 2 got the crab cake melt and 2 got the special, which had fried green tomatoes, bacon, and pimento cheese on Texas toast, with Cajun fries and tomato soup on the side. The crab cake in the the crab cake melt had a good amount of crab and the Monterey Jack cheese was super gooey and melty. The tomato slice cut through the heaviness of cheese and fat perfectly, and it was even better when dunked in the tomato soup. The pimento cheese was also delicious and the green tomatoes were perfectly breaded and fried. Debbie, our server, was very nice and friendly and was handling all the customers by herself. Our only wish was that there was more outside seating since it was such a nice day, although the sidewalk out front is pretty limited space for it.

We each had a seared Maryland Crab Cake, not the sandwich, with slaw and Old Bay fries for lunch. The cakes were very good for the price (I always want more crab in them.), fries very good and slaw above average. The accompanying iced tea tasted like it was instant or from concentrate. Service was outstanding and the kitchen was fast despite having a full house.

July 30, 2015 If you are from Maryland stay away! The Crab Cakes are greasy and tasteless. I am still befuddled how a restaurant owned by Marylander's can omit or put so little Old Bay Seasoning in their Crab Cakes and Crab Soup that it is almost indiscernible. We will drive the 8 1/2 hours to Maryland the next time we have a strong hankering for some real Maryland Crab Cakes and Crab Soup before eating here. Dottie Deitz Myrtle Beach

Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. Totally new to me, I had the crab and lobster melt. Our knowledgeable server, David, suggested splitting the two entrees since it's so hard to choose which to get. Boy, was he right. Such an amazing taste. The Texas toast and melted cheese along with the crab and lobster was exquisite. The crab soup was also amazing. Couldn't even eat dinner after this meal. You will not be sorry.

Little spot in strip mall. Casual. Food served from paper lined baskets. Maybe 10 tables total. Can order to go at counter or be seated and waitress helps you. We got their famous crab cake grilled cheese, which was delicious. But what we were all fighting for was the one cup of crab soup we ordered. Lol. It was outstanding! I considered ordering the fried lobster sandwich but was trying to save a few calories. Regretting it now as my hubby ordered the crab grilled cheese melt also... Should've split and shared. Oh well - always a next time I suppose.

Good food and good service. Went with a family of 7 and we were all full of good eats when done. A local must go...

One word...Amazing!! The lobster grilled cheese and the sweet and bold brisket are to die for. We'll defiantly make it back, and maybe try something different, but these two sandwiches quickly because our favorite. Our server was super nice, and the sweetest. She not only took our order, but shared her thoughts on what was good, and just talked to us, like we were friends. It was really nice. We'll be back for sure, and I would recommend that if you've never been you stop in and give it a try.

Really great sandwich shop! We had a great experience, there were 8 in our party. Although the dining area is small, they made room for us. The servers were extremely friendly, and professional. We all tried a variety of the sandwiches and shared so we could try the amazing variety of grilled cheese concoctions. Every one we had fantastic. We also tried all the fries and onion rings. Again each was great. All in all, no complaints. Will definitely stop back the next time we're in myrtle.

Every year I come to myrtle Beach for bike week. The Texas cheese steak from the waffle house use to be my favorite, until I found this place. I grew up eating grilled cheese. I tried every grilled cheese they make. They all are great, but I think the FRIED LOBSTER GRILLED CHEESE IS #1. Tell Debbie that Reggie sent you & maybe I will get a FREE Sandwich next year. I ate a sandwich every day. Yummmmmmy

Delicious food! We got the crab cake grilled cheese, ultimate grilled cheese with tomato soup and both sweet potato and old bay fries. Everyone agreed the crab cake grilled cheese was surprisingly delicious with a large crab cake! The ultimate grilled cheese and tomato was huge and tasty. The fries were thick cut and cooked well. The only drawback was that we expected it to be a quick meal and the service was a bit slow, so we were there about an hour. Worth it for the food!

Ok, I read the reviews and decided to give this unique combo a try. First of all, the directions had left me in a mobile home park. I was embarrassed and turned around, as this shop is in the Oasis shopping center. I entered this little shop and there is a chalk board over the counter, that was confusing and difficult to decipher. At the counter there is a refrigerator filled with beers, water, and sodas. It was about 3 pm and the restaurant was empty except for a table of people eating outside. The lady at the counter was ready to take my order, and I didn't know what I wanted, being very confused by the chalkboard, I grabbed a menu. She was waiting for me, and I just blurted out grilled Monterey cheese and lobster. She asked if I wanted fries and I agreed. She asked if I wanted Old Bay on my fries, I never had it before, so I figured, why not. I just felt pressured about giving my order, as it was my first time there, and I clearly didn't know what I wanted. Perhaps she was used to dealing with crowds. I asked to take my meal home. I attached photos of my sandwich with a lobster tail in the box. I guess that is for color, but it was empty. I tried my sandwich when I got home (only a few minutes later). It was rather bland in my opinion, and deep frying a lobster takes away the sweetness of the meat. I ate half my sandwich, but then thought about how high this might make my cholesterol level. It was just not tasty enough to be worth it. I put the other half in the refrigerator (and two days later threw it out). I tried the fries, when they were hot and fresh, and the Old Bay killed it for me (they put on too much). Next time, if there is one, I would not order that. The food is not bad, perhaps next time sitting at a table would have made me feel more relaxed about my order. I just didn't want to sit alone in a hard wooden seat. Never in my life did I ever go out for something to eat and think about my cholesterol level. That is not a good sign. I really think if I didn't feel on the spot about my order, I would have ordered more sensibly. Tip: Take your time reading the menu before you order. Don't count on the chalkboard for help!

What a cool place to grab something to eat! It's a small restaurant in the middle of a shopping plaza, I probably wouldn't have found it until I saw a brochure and coupon at Tupelo Bay golf center (just down the road). Indoor and outdoor seating, friendly people, and from what I was told, the owner cooks all the food himself. I got a crab cake and traditional grilled cheese (wanted to try them both). They were both excellent. The salads looked very good too, fresh with a good portion of seafood. Also loved the tomato soup! My dad even enjoyed it and he is the pickiest eater that I know. I'm going to go back next week and try their number 1 seller, The CrabMelt (crab cake stuffed between grilled cheese), which seems to be getting great reviews. Definitely check this place out, great/fresh food at very good prices. You won't be disappointed!

Really great sandwich shop. We had a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and a grilled crab melt sandwich. Both were very flavorful and large! The fries were crispy and were available with Old Bay seasoning. The service was friendly. She took time to answer my questions about the menu and ingredients.

Excellent food. Very small and you may have to sit but it's worth the wait. Get the tomato soup with your grilled cheese- it will be the best tomato soup you have ever had. Crabmelt is their specialty- a must get.

The lobster grilled cheese sandwich was fabulous, & I love old bay fries! One of my friends ordered the crab melt, and said it was really good; my other friend got the fish & chips, and said the flavor was good, but a little greasy. The service was great, very attentive. Would definitely come back again!

Great food... No small portions. Great family environment. We got the buffalo chicken sandwiches. The flavor was great -- extremely filling. The Cajun fries and coleslaw were both great sides. They don't skimp on the cheese. The server was extremely friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

This is really a 3.5 star review - not because of the food, but because we felt discriminated against. When we entered the restaurant, all tables were full but there was counter space by the storefront that was available. I asked the young girl (she was in her early 20s, I believe) in front of the cashier whether we can sit and she said, "Sure. I will be right with you." Another couple came in and sat at a table that had just left. I got the young server's attention and we made eye contact and she still assisted the couple that came in after us first. At this point, I am wondering why she is ignoring us. There can be no other reason why than she dislikes Asians (we were the only Asians there). The rest of the patrons were Caucasians. I didn't mention my thought to the rest of my group. They both looked at each other then turned to me and said, "You think it's because we are Asian?" Every single table received acknowledgement and assistance from her besides us. Then an older lady (I believe her name is Pam and she is from Massachusetts) came out from the back. I was able to get her attention after she assisted the other tables. She was very nice and was shocked to learn that the other server (the younger server) had not even taken our drink orders yet. Pam took our order and apologized to us because they were short staffed as two people called out sick. Ok - I understand this but after ten minutes and you greet people that came in after us and others that are waiting to sit down but didn't even ask us what we wanted to drink? I knew it wasn't because they were short staffed that prompted her behavior because we were there for 45 minutes and she didn't come over once nor did she want to make eye contact with us when I loudly said, "Excuse me?" to ask for a refill on our drinks. Her behavior was absolutely unacceptable. Pam gained back a star for the restaurant but if you are Asian, don't be shocked you won't get service by this server. The food itself was very good. I would rate it 4.5 stars. Yes - the server lost two stars for this restaurant. We had the crabmelt, the fried lobster tail melt and the old bay fries. They were both very good. While I agree with one of the previous reviewers that it wasn't the best crab cake ever and that it was on the oily side, it definitely wasn't tasteless. I also wouldn't expect a grilled cheese to be oil-free. With that being said, I wouldn't recommend you ordering these items if you have high cholesterol.

Food was good. Wayyy over priced. Very small area to eat, outside seating available, but in the summer, that's just not possible. I had fried shrimp which were a little too greasy for me. But edible.

Love this place! Came last year when we visited and returned this year. Same great food and service! The waitress even remembered me, it surprised me due to the amount of people she must serve! A must have if you like seafood and grilled cheese sandwiches!

We went on a Saturday and it was obviously understaffed. All seats were taken and people were standing around trying to get seats. It was practically a one woman show and I felt bad for her. After the long wait, we finally got our crab melt. It was good but the star of the show was definitely the sweet potato fries and apple butter. Yum! I hope this place hires more servers and a someone to seat and take $$!

Perfectly grilled cheese sandwiches. The girl who waited on our two tables was extremely nice and very good at her job. Hope this shop is able to expand in future. Worth trying

Most importantly, they make a great grilled cheese sandwich. Add to that fresh, soft crab cakes and fried lobster and you've got a winner. They were very busy when we went and we had to wait a bit. The server was friendly and kept the drinks coming so the wait was not bad. Ultimately it was well worth the wait. The fact that they were so busy just underscored that we weren't the only people to think that! Great place for the whole family.

This place is amazing definitely worth a drive even if it's out of the way! You just can't afforded to not stop in and try the Fried Lobster Grilled Cheese. Ordered Large Fries: Was a good amount of fries at a cheap price went well with our sandwiches Fried Lobster Grilled Cheese: Was AMAZING! Just come in and try it yourself! Crab Cake Melt: Get sandwich just was not as great as the Fried Lobster Grilled Cheese! The waitress was very friendly and helpful was impressed by the service. Stop in!

This place was great!! To start, the service from Debbie was outstanding from the time we walked in the door. The food was definitely in line with the service that Debbie provided. We had the French Fried Lobster Grilled Cheese, the Crab Melt, Crab Balls as an appetizer, and a small order of the Old Bay Fries. The kids had a Grilled Cheese and the Chicken Fingers. Each of the sandwiches were perfectly toasted on the Texas toast and my only complaint is that we did not find this until our last night of vacation. I would recommend everything that we ordered but I thought the Crab Melt was probably the best sandwich we had. It had the perfect mix and flavor. Do yourself a favor and try this place!

Small inside. Very small, especially when the lunch rush hits. Avoid the 12:00 hour. I felt bad for the poor girl who was handling the front by herself, but she managed to keep it together. I tried the new beef brisquett that wasnt on the menu yet. It was good. I kind of wish i had tried something from the menu for my 1st trip, but ill definately be back.

If you enjoy fried seafood and grilled cheese, please just go here. It's a recipe for a smile and a full belly. The lobster grilled cheese: The lobster was tasty and not overcooked, the breading wasn't overly oily, the cheese was melty and good. Favorite grilled cheese possibly ever. The crabby melt: There's one seriously great crab cake, then you add melted cheese? That makes me one happy person. Again, probably one of my favorite sandwiches I've had. I opted for mine without tomato, but I'm sure it would be good with as well. Everything was hot and fresh. Totally acceptable pricing. One problem I think is that I would have an addiction if I lived near here! Just. Go.

The food was spectacularly delicious and the prices incredible for what you get. The service was extraordinarily kind (we had a cranky 2 year old with us and the sweet waitress did everything in her power, and then some, to help entertain/distract/etc.) and we will be back for more. The only complaint I have (minor) is that they don't offer full sized bottles of wine. They do however have a decent bottled beer selection as well as the small single-serve Sutter home bottles of wine to choose from.

The husband and I stopped in here when we were looking for some lunch at the beach. The Yelp reviews did not steer us in the wrong direction! If you love grilled cheese and you love seafood, then you will love this place. This is not a fancy place. They do have table service and they appear to do a fair amount of take out too. We tried the buffalo fish bites which were great. Buffalo sauce compliments seafood really well. The bites were crisp on the outside and the buffalo sauce was not too hot, but still tangy and tasty. With regard to the sandwiches, they have grilled cheese on Texas toast with seafood. I tried the grilled cheese with fried lobster. It was really rich and decadent; I totally enjoyed it. The husband had a grilled cheese with crab cake that was amazing too. We shared Old Bay fries, which are seasoned fries. They have a traditional grilled cheese and tomato soup combo which I would like to try.

Start with the good, the food is a notch above average dive/dinner food. In fact, the surf and turf flair was an awesome addition to a basis of grilled cheese sandwiches. The bad.... seems to be a little understaffed. Total time at the restaurant was an hour and forty-five minutes. UPDATE- the restaurant reached out after our initial experience and invited back for a better experience which, I thought very highly of. We did take out a few days later and had a really good experience.

Went in for early dinner, party of 5, three adults, an 11 year old, and a 3 year old. We looked at some menus outside, before we even sat down our server (Debbie, possibly the nicest person I've ever met) came out to greet us. She made some suggestions, and even when things were busy our cups were kept full. Our order consisted of 2 "Old Fashioned", a grilled cheese and tomatoe soup (real tomatoe soup, creamy and the best I've had to date.) The 3 year old made a point to tell his mother it was "Really good". A lobster sandwich, which was labeled as "fantastic" with an order of the Maryland Crab Cake which holds the title of "The Best F***ing Crab Cake" A BLT, which was massive, and described as "Awesome" by the 11 year old. And a Buffalo Chicken grilled cheese, and a cup of soup. The buffalo chicken was good, but seeing the BLT I wish I had ordered the bacon sandwich instead. For sides we ordered far too many. A small order of fries and two sandwiches is filling enough for two. The Old Bay fries were delicious, but pass on the vinegar. It wasnt a good combination, despite what Yelp said. I can not rate this place highly enough, and can't wait to digest enough to finish my left overs.

Went to this gem based on reviews and it was great! My husband had the crab cake melt and I had the lobster grilled cheese. Both were awesome! A little more pricy than your average sandwich shop but more than worth it!! Seating is limited and only one server but everything ran smoothly and the food was awesome! Try the old bay fries!!

My husband and I just tried this place for the first time. He got a crab cake grilled cheese, the waitress said it was the best. He really liked it, I tried it... It was very cheesy and delicious, it is a lot of crab cake too! I tried the lobster grilled cheese, we both liked mine even better that the other one. Fried lobster on Texas toast grilled cheese! Wow!! Ultimate indulgence on both sandwiches!!! It was s little pricey for lunch.... We spent $40 after tipping the waitress. We had 2 sandwiches, one order of old bay fries and 1 beer. The interior is small, but bright and cute! I highly recommend this place for lunch

The wife and I came across this hidden gem today while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. We had a lobster grilled cheese, a crab cake grilled cheese, and some Cajun fries. Everything was incredible including the service. If you're anywhere near this amazing little spot, you have to stop in and enjoy what they have to offer, you won't regret it!

Attempted to stop by and do a large "to-go" order this afternoon because they were busy. We were informed that we could not place said order until the folks who arrived in front of us who were planning to get a table and eat-in had been seated. Not quite sure how our to-go order would have impacted their eat-in service as we were not asking to take their table...disappointed in the execution and the explanation of that whole idea. Also, web menu is no longer accurate.

My family and I stopped in for dinner after reading great reviews, and we were pleased to see they lived up to the expectations. We were greeted by the two servers in the small restaurant that has maybe a dozen tables and a counter facing the window. A glass cooler at the front shows some beverage selections, including some nice bottled craft beers. The service from the time we walked in the door until the minute we left was very attentive and genuinely Southern hospitality. They were very accommodating to our two kids (ages 2 and 6). The food - excellent! My wife and I shared the crab melt and fried lobster grilled cheese as well as the old bay fries. The sandwiches were made from thick buttered Texas toast and the cheese was gooey perfection. The fried lobster was crisp with nice flavor and the crabcake was nicely seasoned and not too soggy. The old bay fries were deliciously seasoned and went nicely with the malt vinegar on the table. The food was reasonably priced; I felt we got great value. Be warned - they close at 7:00 except for Thursday and Friday when they close at 8:00. So if you're looking for an earlyish dinner or lunch, this is a great place. They've been in business for two years and I hope they have many more ahead of them.

We stopped at The Grilled Cheese & Crab Co. On the way to Georgetown. We were not disappointed. My mom and I shared 2 sandwiches, the highly recommended crab cake grilled cheese and the original grilled cheese. Both were served on Texas toast and were equally delicious with a generous amount of cheese. The crab cake grilled cheese was loaded with crab, not filler and was amazing between the Monterey Jack cheese and tomatoes. My husband ordered the "good ole fashioned grilled cheese" served with tomato soup. Our friend ordered the buffalo chicken grill cheese. The chicken was tender and it was served with a side of homemade blue cheese for dipping. We also ordered a side of onion rings that were big and flavorful, Cajun fries and sweet potato fries that were served with apple butter. Our server was very attentive and sweet. I should mention we were greeted immediately when we walked in the door. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will stop by again.

  • Brian M.

Great food, but slow take out service. Had the buffalo chicken grilled cheese, BLT grilled cheese, crab fries, and onion rings. The dine in area is small and feels like a take out place. All in all, good place. Will order take out again.

Great service! I had the crab cake melt, great portion size, plenty of crab. I wasn't all that crazy about the taste though. Old bay fries were yummy. I would come back but try something different.

Great food. Wait staff amazing!! My husband and I ordered the crab melt and was floored by flavor and taste. Ordered from kids menu for our children, they were equally happy.

Super friendly staff! Very attentive. My husband and I both ordered the Crab Melt and split an order of Old Bay fries. Everything was served piping hot. The sandwiches were delicious. Filled with crab, not filler. The cheese...oh my goodness...so much yummy, gooey, stringy cheese! Delicious! The fries were hot and fresh, but the Old Bay seasoning was excessive. We tried to mix them up and knock off some of it, but there was a good amount of the fries that we couldn't eat. A little bit of this seasoning goes along way. All in all, we enjoyed our visit!

Was quite excited to eat here. Arrived around 5PM on a Monday afternoon. My party and I entered and waited to order/take a seat. Stood there for ten minutes and not one staff person greeted us or said anything to us. When I attempted to ask a waiter, his first response was "what?". Having worked in the hospitality industry and having common sense, this obviously shows a lack of basic hospitality skills. Staff should be retained in customer service. It a shame the horrible service, or lack there of, pushed us out the door before we could try the food.

Yum! Our family saw the great reviews and had to try it out. We arrived around 6:30 (they close at 7) and were greeted by Debbie. She was super attentive and friendly. We got the crab balls and onion rings for an appetizer. For dinner we had the lobster grilled cheese, crab cake grilled cheese, buffalo chicken grilled cheese, and, one of the specials, the fried green tomato, bacon, and pimiento grilled cheese. The portions were very filling and tasted great. I ordered a water, which came in a small cup, but Debbie kept it filled the whole time. She also chatted with us about the area and suggested a couple of places to go shopping. We would definitely recommend it for a casual lunch or dinner!

Doesn't look like it would be a five star place but it is for sure. Fantastic lunch spot! Got the fried chicken grilled cheese sandwich which was sooooooo great. Cajun seasoned fries are spicy so look out - taste good. Food was fresh and hot. Service was superb and the bathroom was very clean. Price was also very good. Under $20 for two people.

Wow!! This was one of the best meals we've had while on vacation. Our party had the crab melt, grilled cheese, boiled shrimp, crab balls, and the lobster melt. It was all amazing!! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back (maybe tomorrow!)

This place is fantastic! I ordered the lobster grilled cheese with old bay fries and I must say it was the best grilled cheese I've ever had! My gf ordered the chicken grilled cheese and that was awesome too! Definitely a favorite and will be eating here again!

This was not too bad at all...in fact it was pretty good and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered the crab balls, the fried green tomato and the lobster grilled cheese sandwiches. I mean there is a LOT of fried stuff on the menu. Correction: there's only fried stuff on the menu. Despite that, the food was not offensively greasy. It tasted good (especially the sandwiches, the balls were meh, but at least you could taste the crab) and it the meal was cost-effective, meaning after we had it for late lunch, we really did not need to have dinner, it was THAT filling. Also, we were allowed to bring our dog in the patio.

Outstanding little stop. Thanks to Yelp for helping find it. Entire family had a great lunch. I had the Fried Lobster Grilled Cheese sandwich, great! Very unique. Wife had the Crabcake melt. Awesome too. Son had the BLT, and that thing was packed with Bacon. We also found the coke slaw to be top notch, and the homemade fries tasty. If in Myrtle Beach, make a stop.

Have been nearby this place for over a year and just tried it today based on a Yelp review. The place isn't impressive to look at but the food is pretty good. We tried the special - fried green tomato pimento cheese grilled cheese with bacon and it was delicious. Forwarding - while they do have a couple of items that do not have seafood, the overwhelming majority of their menu does. If you are not a seafood lover, just know that in advance.

I've delivered from this place several times and going to try a special item...I just ate the special ... Fried green tomatoes on a pimento cheese and bacon sandwich and told it's all homemade. Who would have ever thought to mix these items, but DAMN what a treat! I would give it 5 but this place is historically rather slow, and if there's a crowd you're looking at 30-45 to get your food. It's also small, seats mo more than 20 inside and 8-12 outside. Otherwise, it's a great local dive worthy of a return trip to try other items!

Hmmm a restaurant serving grilled cheese, how could that work? It just does. Especially with the unique twists. Crab cakes, lobster, chicken fingers all added. Fantastic. On our visit Debbie was our server and she was very attentive and polite. The food was excellent. I had a grilled cheese with some awesome tomato soup while the wife had the crab melt. We both loved it. Can't wait for another beach trip to enjoy.

In town on business for the week and happened to notice this spot. Not really a grilled cheese person, but the crab cake idea seemed interesting. So glad I decided to stop in. MYR is really slow this time of year and I ended up being the only person in the place. They close at 7pm which I didn't know. The waitress was super helpful and in the end I went with the namesake ... grilled cheese and crab cake ...WOW!!! So good. Genuine Maryland Blue crab crafted by the owner. Simple? Yes. Unique and well worth every penny. I'll be bragging about it and I'll be back.

Twice we came here, twice we asked to sit outside, twice we were ignored for over 15/20 minutes with no one greeting us or even taking a drink order. Twice we left without trying any of the food due to their lack of service! It looks like they only have one waitress working and the place is always packed. Tip: if you don't want to be completely ignored sit inside. Tip: do not come here during regular lunch hours (11-2pm). Tip: only come here if you want to waste the pretty sunshine waiting on a grilled cheese sandwich.

Great find! My boyfriend is from Maryland and is always criticizing crab cakes saying no one makes them like Maryland does aka "the right way". After sitting down, the waitress told us the owners were from Maryland so we had a feeling we weren't going to regret this! The menu has a great selection. I got the Maryland crab cake sandwich with old bay mayo instead of tartar sauce. It was awesome! Seriously best I've ever had. Definitely not a lot of "stuffing" and just the perfect amount of crispness. My boyfriend got the popular (as mentioned by our waitress) crabmelt which he loved! I'm not a big cheese person or else I would have gotten that as well. My brother got the fried lobster grilled cheese, which was also incredible! We also got Cajun fries and old bay fries which were hand cut and while I'm usually not a fan of those, they were also amazing (their ranch is yummy too!). The vinegar set on the table was great for my boyfriend who loves vinegar and old bay fries. The entire meal was full of just raving about how good everything is. We got two small fries, the three sandwiches, two sodas and 2 beers and the total was $52. Definitely reasonable for what we got and the quality. They had a pretty good beer selection for the size of the restaurant which was nice. Also a couple my boyfriend hasn't tried which is rare. There is also some outdoor seating in front which is nice too! My only negative was the waitress, while very very nice and attentive, seemed to linger a little too long and talk too much for my liking but I also don't like that stuff so could just be me! Definitely have to go and I'll make this a regular visit!!
